sportrack 2 Bike Wheel Mount Rack Review - etrailer.com

www.etrailer.comVideos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information. Today we are going to show you part number A30901 from sportrack. This is their 2 bicycle rack designed for 1 1/4 inch receivers and 2 inch receiver hitches. Now for the 1 1/4 inch receiver it does have to be a class 2 hitch. First up we have to install it on our 2 inch receiver hitch. Instead of a hitch pin it comes with a bolt. You pull this pin out and it just unscrews like a normal bolt. Then you just slide it in aligning the holes before you reinstall the bolt. You go ahead and tighten it down with a 3/4 inch wrench. This bolt acts like a anti rattle device that makes the entire thing one solid assembly now. Okay once we have our bolt installed we will install our safety pin just to make sure if it comes loose it will not come all the way out. A second bike is what we are going to put on next. Notice that the second bike is a smaller frame then the first bike so that you can see the adjustability of the bike rack. The ability to adjust the 2 separate hooks to fit the different frames is a pretty handy thing. You put the wheels in the wheel wells first then make any adjustments that you need to before pulling your hook over and locking it into place. There you have it 2 bikes properly stored and ready for your road trip. Alright and there you have it for A30901 from sportrack. The 2 bicycle rack that is a wheel carrier for 1 1/4 or 2 ...

Valley Hitch Mounted Basket Cargo Carrier measures 60 long and 20 wide. It comes with an expanded steel mesh floor and 6 high sides to keep cargo secure and in place. It is designed to fit a 2 inch receiver hitch with a minimum Class III or Class IV rating. These cargo carriers are manufactured from heavy duty tubular steel and measure 5/8 inch in diameter. The installation is a very simple procedure of just bolting two pieces together.

±1±: Best Buy I own a 99 Jeep Cherokee with a factory trailer hitch. When traveling I carry two dogs in the back with the rear seat folded and wanted to be able to carry more gear without strapping it to the roof rack. This carrier is perfect for my needs.

First of all, it's heavy. The carrier itself weighs about 50 pounds, but it can carry up to the tongue weight limit of my hitch including the carrier weight. I bought it last week and used it yesterday for the first time and it didn't make a squeak or rattle for over 300 miles. Once I arrived at my destination, I simply pulled it out of the hitch receiver and stowed it in my folks' garage.

I couldn't find this anywhere in the product description, but it DOES include a non-locking pin for the hitch receiver. If you don't have one, you won't have to buy one separately. This is nice. However, if you intend to leave it on your vehicle unattended, you might want to buy a locking pin so the carrier can't be easily removed.

For this trip I simply strapped down my cargo with a 12-foot ratcheting strap, weaved over the top of the load a few times. I would rather recommend a net type of system or a cargo bag designed for this purpose. The strap works for large items, but if you have many smaller items a net or bag is better. Obviously, a waterproof bag would be ideal if you are going to be driving in the rain.

Assembly couldn't be easier. There are three main pieces--two halves of the basket and one reversible (up or down for ground clearance) hitch bar. (My Jeep has a 3.5" suspension lift and with this carrier mounted in the higher position the basket floor height is about mid-thigh.) Two plates are bolted to the two basket halves to hold them together and they sandwich around the hitch bar. Altogether it looks like it will last and definitely will hold the rated load. (The hardware includes lock washers under the nuts, but I also used Loctite on the bolt threads, just as a personal Settings. All hardware should be torqued to detail in the instructions, 10 or 20 £ - foot depending on the hardware.).

I normally less star for "Made in China." I can not find a product category in the United States. on Sale!
