Very impressed with the rack set up and ease of use. The description does not do this bike rack justice. Very functional and easy to mount the bikes on even if they are odd frame shapes or sizes. They ride very securely and the rack has very little wiggle with no noise. Center arm moves out of the way to open the tailgate (if no bike is attached). Arms that hold the bike ratchet down and lock until a clip is pressed to release them. I love it, money well spent.

I got this rack mainly to carry 1 recumbent on the back of my minivan. The Swagman rack does this successfully, but just barely adjusts enough to fit the bike in the wheel holders with one of the hoops slid all the way to the end. On the plus side, it's quite easy to put the bike on and the bike is very stable, with almost no movement. I use an old leather toeclip strap on the back wheel because it could slide within the hoop. Some other brands include velcro straps or provide other means of securing the wheels. Another plus is that it folds easily for storage and the top tube folds down to open the van's tailgate. The frame clamp slides quickly into place and holds the bike securely.

On the minus side, this rack, unlike similar brands, does not incorporate a hitch riser. The rack rides lower to the road than I'd like, especially with the long bar it uses to go into the hitch receiver. Another minus is that the locking balls on the pins that keep the folding sections in place are almost too small to remain in the holes. They do have little wire keepers and thankfully none have come out yet. A third minus is that the metal brackets used to attach the wheel hoops are lighter than they should be and seem to have bent down slightly from use. Finally, some other brands come with an adapter to allow use with either size of hitch, while the Swagman is for 2" only.

In sum, if this is the only brand you can find, it will probably do the job. However, I'd try to find another brand that overcomes some of the minuses I've found.
